A Home Inventory App That Reads Receipts From Your Email
Forward an order confirmation to Manifest and it comes back as an item with the price, date, serial and warranty filled in. What it costs, who else does it.
Yes. Manifest reads receipts from your email. Every account gets a private forwarding address. Send an order confirmation to it and a few minutes later the item is waiting in your review queue with the name, price, purchase date, serial number, warranty and the retailer's return window filled in. I make Manifest. This is the maker's account of how it works and where it stops, with the other apps that come close at the end.
What a forwarded receipt turns into
A draft, not a finished entry. Each product on the receipt gets its own card with whatever the email gave away: name, brand, model, category, what you paid, the date, the serial number if the receipt printed one, the warranty length if it was stated, and how many days you have to return it. Attached PDFs and photos stay pinned to the card, and the card keeps the retailer and the subject line so you can find the original email again.
An order with several products becomes a group of cards, up to 10 from one receipt, and you review them together. If a card matches something you already own, Manifest suggests the match and fills in only the fields that were empty, so a receipt for a laptop you added last week updates that laptop instead of making a twin. Nothing joins your inventory until you tap save, and discarding a card deletes the draft.
How to set it up
- Open Settings, then Receipt forwarding. Your address is at the top; it looks like a short name at add.manifestme.me. Tap to copy it.
- Save it in your contacts as "Manifest" so forwarding is one tap.
- Forward the next order confirmation you get. Amazon, Apple and most retailer emails work as they are; you do not need to strip the signature or the marketing footer.
- Open the dashboard prompt that says how many drafts are waiting, check the cards, and save.
The address is yours alone. Only mail sent to it lands in your account, and you can find the steps again in the forwarding help article.
What it reads, and what it leaves alone
Order confirmations in the body of the email are the main case. Attached PDF invoices and photos of paper receipts are read too, up to 10 attachments per email, 10 MB each and 25 MB in total. If one file is over the limit, or there are more than 10, the whole email is set aside without a draft and without a warning, so split a long invoice before you send it. The address also takes at most 20 emails an hour; a weekend backlog goes through in batches.
An email with nothing in it to own, such as a streaming trial or a haul-away confirmation, is set aside instead of becoming a junk item. Warranty years are only written when the receipt states them; Manifest does not guess. The return window comes from the receipt when it says, and otherwise from the retailer's published policy, which is the same table behind the return policy cheat sheet.
Paper receipts with no email trail take a different route: photograph them in the app, or upload the PDF, and the receipt scan fills in the same fields.
What it costs
| Plan | Receipt forwarding | What each receipt uses |
|---|---|---|
| 7-day trial, no card | Included | Nothing is metered |
| Vault ($1.99/mo or $11.99/yr) | Included | One of 15 AI actions per calendar month |
| Unlimited ($39/yr) | Included | No monthly cap |
A receipt that fails to read is refunded, so a blank email does not cost an action. If a busy month runs Vault dry, a one-time $3.99 boost lifts the cap for 14 days, and the AI actions help page lists everything else that draws from the same pool. There is no permanent free tier; once a trial ends without a subscription, mail to the address stops being read.
The receipt is the half of the proof people lose
It is also the half an adjuster asks about first. A photo shows you owned a thing; the receipt shows what it was and what it cost. In the Triple-I and Munich Re 2023 consumer survey, 47% of US homeowners said they had prepared an inventory at all, and the ones I hear about stall at the step where someone has to go and find the paperwork. Forwarding does that part at the moment you buy, when the email is already open. The insurance report then prints each item with its receipt, serial number and both replacement cost and actual cash value totals.
Other apps that take receipts
I checked these on October 15, 2026, starting from the home inventory app tracker. Itemtopia's App Store description lists "Forward receipts to automatically create items and attach purchase data"; its own site describes attaching receipts to an item, and I could not find a page that explains the forwarding, so ask them before you count on it. HomeZada reads a photo of a receipt with its inventory AI, announced in October 2024, which is a photo you take, not an email you forward. Kept does the same from a photo; its free plan includes three captures of any kind, and kept+ at $19.99 a year removes the cap. Sortly, Nest Egg and Under My Roof store a receipt as an attachment and leave the typing to you. I did not check the rest of the tracker for receipt handling. FAQ
Is there a home inventory app that reads receipts from email? Yes. Manifest gives every account a private forwarding address, and an order confirmation sent to it comes back as a draft item with the price, date, serial number, warranty and return window filled in. I make it. Itemtopia's App Store listing advertises receipt forwarding without documenting it; HomeZada and Kept read a photo of a receipt instead.
Does it work with Amazon order emails? Yes. Amazon, Apple and most retailer confirmations are read as they arrive, and an order with several products becomes up to 10 draft cards that you review as a group.
Can I forward a photo or PDF of a paper receipt? Yes. Attach it to the email, up to 10 files, 10 MB each and 25 MB in total, and the file stays pinned to the item. In the app itself you can also photograph a paper receipt or upload the PDF.
Does forwarding a receipt use an AI action? One per receipt. The trial and Unlimited have no cap, Vault includes 15 actions a month, and a receipt that fails to read is refunded.
What if a forwarded receipt never shows up? Check that you used the exact address on your Receipt forwarding screen, give it a few minutes, and look in the review queue in case it already landed. If it is still missing, email support@manifestme.me and we trace it.
