Scan a receipt or PDF in the app

Manifest can read a receipt, invoice, or product manual and fill in the purchase details for you. How you upload it depends on whether the receipt has one product or several, and whether the item already exists.

A receipt with several products

Use Bulk photos. Each product on the receipt becomes its own item.

1. Tap +, then Bulk photos.
2. Tap Upload and pick one or more PDF receipts or invoices.
3. Tap the Add button, which shows how many files you picked. Manifest reads each receipt and makes a review card for every product it finds, up to 10 per receipt.
4. Go through the cards, fix anything that looks off, and save.

A receipt for one new item

1. Tap +, then Upload from gallery, and pick the PDF or a photo of the receipt.
2. Manifest fills in the form with what it finds.
3. Review the fields, then save.

If a PDF here turns out to list more than one product, only the first one goes into the form, and Manifest tells you to use Bulk photos for the rest. A photo of a receipt is read as one item.

A document for an item you already have

1. Open the item.
2. In the documents section, tap Add a document and pick a PDF or image.
3. Manifest reads it and fills in any of the item's fields that are still empty. Fields you've already filled in stay as they are.

What gets filled in

• Name, brand, model, and category
• Serial number, UPC, and ISBN
• Purchase date and purchase price
• Warranty length, when the document states one explicitly

PDF limits

Manifest can read PDFs up to 30 pages and 8 MB. If yours is bigger, split it and upload the pages you need. You can still attach a bigger PDF (up to 10 MB) to an item, but Manifest won't read it.

Good to know

• Reading a document uses one AI action.
• Forwarding a receipt by email is another option. Forwarded receipts land in a review queue on their own. See Forward a receipt and let Manifest read it.
• Warranty years are only filled in when the document states a length. Manifest does not guess.
