Connect Manifest to ChatGPT

Ask ChatGPT about your inventory, add things from photos or your phone, and fix details.

You can connect Manifest to ChatGPT and use it to keep your inventory. Ask what's in the garage, which warranties run out this year, or what your electronics are worth. Add things by describing them, by attaching photos, or by taking photos with your phone. Fix a detail when you spot a mistake.

ChatGPT can read your items, add new ones, and change details you ask it to change. It can't delete items you already had. Undoing an add removes only what that add just created.

Adding and changing items from ChatGPT is rolling out now. Until it reaches your account, ChatGPT can look things up but not add or change anything.

Connect in ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, find Manifest in the apps list and choose it. If it isn't listed yet, add it as a custom app in ChatGPT's app settings and paste this URL: https://mcp.manifestme.me/mcp
  2. Choose Connect. A Manifest page asks whether to allow the app to use your inventory. Only allow it if you started the connection in ChatGPT yourself, just now.
  3. Choose Allow, sign in to Manifest if you aren't already, and choose Allow once more on manifestme.me.

You're sent back to ChatGPT. We email you whenever a new app connects to your account.

Things to ask

  • "Help me start my home inventory."
  • "Add the things in this room."
  • "What's my stuff worth?"
  • "Which warranties expire soon?"
  • "Find my Sony headphones and tell me when I bought them."

Adding items

  • Describe them. Tell ChatGPT what you own. It shows you a list first, and nothing is saved until you say so.
  • Attach photos. Attach photos of your items in the chat. Manifest looks at each photo to fill in the name, brand, model, and category. You review the list before anything is saved.
  • Use your phone. Manifest shows a QR code and a short code in the chat. Open it on your phone and take a photo of each item. Each photo becomes an item, and Manifest fills in the name and details a little later. Photos Manifest can't name stay as "Unnamed item" so you can fix them.

Changing things

Ask ChatGPT to change an item's name, location, serial number, warranty date, value, price, purchase date, store, or notes. A new note is added as a dated line and never replaces your old notes. If you change your mind right after an add or an edit, tap Undo on the card in the chat or ask for it to be undone. An undo of an edit is refused if you've changed the item since, so it can't overwrite your newer edit.

What ChatGPT can see

  • Items: name, brand, model, condition, value, purchase date and price, warranty date, room, the last 4 characters of the serial number, and basic pet details (type, breed, color, birthday, adoption date)
  • Totals: item count, total value, and what you paid, overall or by room or category
  • Expiring warranties
  • Gift card balances: retailer, balance, and expiry date
  • Rooms and locations, and tags

What ChatGPT can't see

  • Photos, receipts, and documents already in Manifest (only how many are attached)
  • The text of your notes. Search can match words in them, but they are never shown.
  • Full serial numbers and pet microchip or license numbers
  • Gift card numbers and PINs
  • Items still waiting for your review, such as drafts from forwarded receipts
  • Your email, billing, or account settings

ChatGPT can't delete items you already had or touch billing. Deleting stays inside Manifest.

Your photos

Photos you attach in ChatGPT are fetched from OpenAI's file hosts and looked at by Manifest to fill in item details.

Disconnect

Open Settings → Connected apps in Manifest and choose Disconnect. ChatGPT loses access within an hour. You can also remove the app in ChatGPT's app settings. Deleting your Manifest account removes every connection.

Good to know

  • Reading works on any plan, including an expired trial. Adding and editing need an active plan or trial.
  • There's a limit of 60 requests a minute. If ChatGPT hits it, wait a minute and try again.
  • Questions about this connection go to support@manifestme.me. See the Privacy Policy for how connected apps are handled.
